I've been wanting to start this project since I bought the book Handknit Holidays a few years ago. Its a pattern called the Swedish Heart Warmer Shawl. I bought the yarn from Knit Picks last month, and got the knitting needles from them yesterday. The shawl has a sun motif near the neck but I'm replacing that with the Flame of Tar Valon. Also I'm using Gray instead of yellow so this will be one of my Aes Sedai shawls.

I worked on it for an hour today, and want to work on it at least an hour every day. I'm going to try and take a picture of it each day after I work on it so I can chronicle how it grows.

I probably won't blog the change every day, but I'll at least show the pictures as I go.

Happy (belated) Birthday Recap

Ok, ok. Yes I know this is a week overdue.

Last Wednesday was my birthday. I'm the ripe old age of 25 now. The birthday itself was fairly un-eventful. My lovely boyfriend did drive down here to take me out to dinner though, which was nice. We went to Logan's and even convinced our waitress to bring me a free dessert. They didn't sing but she did yell Happy Birthday and Yeehaw or something. The cheesecake was totally worth it.
I got quite a few presents, mostly opened much before my birthday. My mom got me a new lunch pail from Tupperware with some matching lunch containers. Dad and Darcy gave me a new George Foreman. I has plates that you can take off and switch for other ones, so I can grill, and cook pizzas or quesadillas on it too, among many other things.
Adam gave me a few things for my birthday, but the big gift was this.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/TMmhxv79NkI/AAAAAAAAALs/nHVWAjuH5CU/s320/photo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5533131493254968898" />
Its a pink pistol! I'm pretty excited about it. We took it out and shot it the day after he gave it to me. I definitely need more practice and to build up my strength, as its hard for me to shoot it still. (Which makes me feel like a weakling.

Weekend Recap Part #1

This past weekend was very busy, but it was busy with fun things so it was worth all the hustle.
The first event that happened this weekend was the Crick Family Fall Party. I've been told this is a yearly occurrence. We spent a good portion of Friday night getting lights strung up and the yard and shop set up for the party. Then Saturday morning was more party decorating, chili making, finishing up with a nap for me Saturday afternoon.
Guests started coming at about 6pm. There was a DJ set up in the yard too and lots of dancing occured. Yes including the Chicken Dance.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/TLyNWNQJD_I/AAAAAAAAALc/i6zA-z--Z30/s320/100_0534.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5529449855158128626" />
There was a ton of food there too. Lots of desserts, drinks, hot dogs and chili. There was a chili cook-off contest so many families brought a crock-pot of chili with them. I made a pot of my vegetarian chili and entered it. I didn't think many people would like it, but I actually won the cook-off. I got a fuzzy new blanket as my prize.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/TLyN9qULAqI/AAAAAAAAALk/syMeOjBfanY/s320/100_0531.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5529450532974559906" />
The chili is actually really easy to make. I'm going to include the recipe for any who might be interested.
Elizabeth's (Prize-Winning) Vegetarian Chili
1 can Chili beans
1 can black beans (drained)
1 can Mexicali corn (drained)
1 can refried beans
1 small jar of salsa
1 can (or equivalent amount) of broth

Mix all ingredients together into a crock-pot and heat. Serve with Frito's and cheese.

See its easy. You can make it non-vegetarian by using chicken broth and adding some cut up cooked chicken to the pot.

WICKED!

I got to see Wicked this past weekend!

It all started when a group came to the ranch and wanted a trail ride at Adam's house. It turned out to be a couple of people from the the show, which is playing in Louisville right now. Adam actually got me a poster signed by the Wizard of Oz and Glinda!!
Then they told us that if we show up early to the show, we can put ourselves into a lottery to win tickets. We showed up Friday night and didn't win, but we tried again on Saturday for the matinee and won!! We ended up with two front row tickets to the show.

And afterwards one of the stage hands that Adam met on Monday gave us a backstage tour! I'm so ready to have sometime to relax. I still have a lot to do this summer, in order for my thesis to get written, but it won't be as bad as my workload this semester.
I can't wait to have time to actually relax and do fun things like read, play video games or knit.
Speaking of knitting, this is what I've been working on lately.

It might be hard to tell, but its a doll. Its been very slow going since I've been working on school stuff, but I'm excited each time I finish a piece.

Half a Year Later

So Saturday marks 6 months that Adam and I have been dating. Its definitely been a great time so far. We've had some rough patches, but luckily we got through them well. He's pretty much the best boyfriend that exists. Thoughtful, caring, and not to mention we basically live parrallel lives. I think we decided the perfect date is us sitting at separate TV's in the same room playing separate video games. Though he has bought come co-op games for us to start playing on the same TV. :-P
Well, since it was an anniversary of sorts, Adam got me a few things. (Even thought I told him this was a no gift holiday.) A tin of mints thats shaped like a Hyrulian Shield, a Science cookbook, and this:

Yes folks, thats the Linux Penguin.

Best. I've decided I want to take a picture a day. It'll probably be something random taken with my cell phone. Just a little something to let everybody know whats going on in my (exciting) life.

So today my picture is Adam's little sister playing my new Wii Fit! I've been looking for one since Christmas. Darcy gave me a $50 giftcard to Gamestop, so I knew I had half the money I needed for it. All the Gamestop's have been sold out of them and I haven't been able to find one. But we went into shop on Sunday to look for a game Adam wanted, and they had one! I whipped out my credit card right then. Its been so much fun playing with it. I think I spent two hours playing games on Sunday, my legs were so sore afterwards.

“If thou tastest a crust of bread, thou tastest all the stars and all the heavens.”

So, my New Year's Resolution was to learn to cook better. Each month I'm going to pick a different kind of food, and learn new recipes and techniques for it. This month I chose to do bread. I used to do bread when I was in undergrad, and I used to really enjoy it. Last night I broke out my stand mixer, flour and yeast and went to work. I did not have my nice stand mixer and bread hook before, and mixing the ingrediants was so much easier with them. I made a recipe for Honey Wheat bread from the Mennonite Cookbook "More with Less" I love this cookbook, seriously everyone should own it.
The recipe makes two loaves at a time. I did one loaf in the normal bread pan as per the recipe. For the other loaf I kneaded it into a ball, and put it on my pizza stone. I was really worried tht they wouldn't rise enough, but they rose real nice in the oven. The recipe called for them to stay in about 45 minutes, but that proved to be a little bit too long. I'll have to take them out sooner next time.

I'm pretty darn proud of myself.

Busy Times

Well, I'd like to say its bee a fun couple of weeks, but thatd be a lie. I am totally stressed out with this stupid math class and can't wait for it to be over. Had an interesting time in my personal life too, but lets not talk about that.
I did spend last weekend with Tamila in Trade Tennessee. We had fun just hanging out, going letterboxing, we even went to a drive in movie theater and saw My Sister's Keeper.
Next week I am packing up my stuff the minute I get don with my final and I'm heading to San Antonio Texas, to hang out with my friend Charlie. I can't wait. I don't really know what we are doing yet, but it will be nice to actually have a vacation.

Happy Birthday Mom

Yeah, her birthday is not till September, but her present is done. (not!) All sorts of stressful stuff is going on at home. And its just more stressful to me because I'm given a play by play, but its not like I'm there to actually do anything and make it better. But c'est la vie.
Luckily this is my last week teaching classes until September. I am so ready for a break. My students are really starting to get on my nerves. Its really frustrating when I know that all the information they need to answer their lab questions are in the lab notebook they have, and they still don't know whats going on. Or when they learn something in an experiment, but can't apply it to a real life question. Like since when did simple logic disappear?
I planted a letterbox yesterday and that was pretty exciting. I put it at the Wesley Foundation, and the stamp is a squirrel since Ken and the squirrels are mortal enemies! lol. Ken was not amused. I have so many papers to grade, papers to write, and tests to study for. I have to give a presentation on Friday for my thesis proposal. I'm crossing my fingers it goes well and I don't sound stupid. I can't wait for summer to be here.

I have managed to get a little knitting done. I am trying to make one Christmas present a month, that way I'm not rushing to finish them all in December. I finished Grandma's present this past month.

Its a pair of convertable mittens in a black wool I had in my stash. I wanted to show some pictures of stuff that I've been doing though.

I made this stamp for Darcy for letterboxing. I actually made two. As you can see in the picture, the letters are BACKWARDS! UGH. After two hours of carving this stamp, I had to scrap it and start again. Luckily the second time around I have better luck with those pesky letters.

This second one is the stamp I made for Tamila so she could go letterboxing with me. It didn't take me quite as long as Darcy's but she was still pleased. (I checked and double checked the letters on this one to make sure they were right.)

Other than that, school has been keeping me pretty busy. Lots of tests, papers to write, papers to grade, and oh yeah, that thesis thing. I should probably start that.

Long Leave of Absence

Wow. Its been a long time since I posted. I've been really busy with school. Also my computer has been broken since Super Bowl Sunday. It decided that loading Windows was WAY to much work. I turn in on and just get The Blue Screen of Death! Ugh. Luckily for me one of the guys that comes to the Wesley Foundation named Chad knows how to fix it. He has successfully reinstalled Windows. I have procured a copy of Microsoft Office 2003. Hopefully it works on my Windows XP. Cross your fingers! Chad just has to install my web drivers and I should be good to go. I can't wait. I am so tired of going to campus everytime I want to check my email or Facebook.

Other than that, my life is pretty uneventful. I'm just trying to keep up with school. I only have two classes, but I really need to get all A's this semester in order to stay in school. I am really worried that I'm not going to be able to stay.

What a week

It was definitely an interesting week. I had class on Monday. Then an ice storm hit Kentucky, and much of the eastern side of the country. Then I proceeded to get 4 days off school. This is what I woke up to Tuesday morning:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/SYRzbxhVYYI/AAAAAAAAALM/zMPGiKpvmHA/s320/icestorm+003.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297485982681358722" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/SYRzbrb1URI/AAAAAAAAALE/hTNd3Gz91lM/s320/icestorm+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297485981047673106" />
Ice covered everything. You can't tell but the ice on my car was about an inch thick. I didn't go anywhere until Wednesday, only becuase I lost power that day. I went into town to get some groceries and maybe hang out at church. Church didn't have power, and town was chaos. You would have thought the end of the world was here. You couldn't get near a restuarant if they had power. I don't even want to talk about the scene at Wal-mart. I went to Kroger, and get some food that didn't require heat or refridgeration, basically snack food and apples. I didn't get power back until early Friday morning, and since the Wesley Foundation got power Thursday night, I ended up spending the night there Thursday night.

But I have power and heat now, thankfully. Though statewide nearly half a million people still don't have power. And now they are saying some might not have power until middle of February.

Snuggle

I finished this blanket this morning.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/SX3nTA7Gb3I/AAAAAAAAAK8/6a2S5q8JlNg/s320/snuggle+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5295643050708987762" />

I'll take it to the local Humane Society soon. At first I didn't know what to buy. But then as I got home and started unpacking, it hit me. I need another dresser. Yay! Just in the nick of time too. (my goal is to start a new character each Monday.) I think he turned out pretty well. The hair and beard where actually really fast and fun to knit. The coat isn't like what the pattern said, but for Joseph I like it a lot better. I think I am going to change up each charecter a little bit as I make them. This week I am making the baby Jesus.

I have another finished knitted object to show you.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/SMRqZixtooI/AAAAAAAAAHA/qlSCK2-KGN0/s320/nativityjoseph+001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5243432853230690946" />
I was originally commissoned to make this hat for a friend of mine. I was trying to be cheap and use yarn from my stash. Well that will teach me. It came out HUGE! And the intended recipient has the same size head as me, so I knew it wouldn't fit. I took it to church Tuesday night at the Wesley Center, just to show to Tamila the horror. One of the boys decided he loved it, and guess what? It Fit Him! So I was very happy the hat found a home. And I bought yarn to make another one that will actually fit my friend.

Busy Saturday.

Well, I am so close to being finished with Joseph. I had some trouble with him this week. The first time I made his coat, it was way to big. So I had to frog it, and do it again. Unfortunately the second time I was not in the mood to do it, so it languished until today. I buckled myself down and got his coat, both his arms, and his hands done today. Everything is sewn on. Now all that's left is his beard, hair and embroidering his face. So that will be my job tomorrow in between studying.
Today was the first home football game. EKU vs WKU. Supposedly its a big rivalry. I didn't go. I really wasn't in the mood. I'm not really that big of a football person anyway. I did go to a wedding this afternoon though. A guy from the Wesley Center was getting married so a few of us ended up going. I think it was the shortest wedding ever. It started a little after 4pm, and was done before 4:30pm. It was nice and simple too, even with two preachers officiating over the ceremony.
Alright, I'm off to bed as I have church in the morning.

Mary

-But the angel said to her "Do not be afraid, Mary. Its ok so far. I have a cute little apartment. I have all new appliances in the kitchen, including a dishwasher (which is prolly my favorite part!) I have washer and dryer hook-up, but alas no washer and dryer. I had to take my laundry yesterday to this really ghetto laundromat which turned out horrible. Half their washers didn't work. Then I put my clothes in the dryer for over 1.5 hours and my clothes were not dry at all. I ran out of quarters so I just brought them home and laid them all over the house to air dry. I later found a tick in my bed, which I am assuming came from there. GROSS! Needless to say, I won't go back there.
Today I pretty much hung out around the house. Did the habitual trip to Wal-Mart to get a few things. Then I came home, took a nap, and have been cleaning unpacking, and knitting of course. I am working on Brock's Christmas Present which will be a Transformers Hat like the one Nicholas got for Christmas last year. I also organized my yarn stash, and I have 19730 yards of yarn. Thats 11.21 miles! Some of that will become Christmas presents, but a good chunk is sock yarn for me. Obviously I need to get knitting....

Hmm...

Well its been a very interesting week. I met this really awesome nice great guy, and found out he has a girlfriend. *insert pouty face here* But we have been talking for a while, and he gave me this riddle to figure out. Now the catch is that if I figure it out or show satisfactory work before I leave to go to school I get a book. Now this isn't just *any* book. This is a copy of Charles Darwin's Origin of the Species, printed in 1871. Let me repeat that, 1871. This book is 137 years old. Leather bound and everything. I may have drooled a little when he showed me. But he won't let me have it or read it until I leave for school, and work some more on the riddle. He said there are 5 parts, and I have the first so far:

all but one are in row
but not the four from days of old

My guess was its the elements, because they are in rows on the periodic table except hydrogen which is off by itself, and way back when humans thought there were just four; earth air fire water. But he said that wasn't it, but its close. Its definitely something to do with science, and he also said its more of an idea than a tangible object. Anybody have any other ideas? I get my next clue wednesday, so we will see if that shines any lights on things.

Venting of Frustrations....

Ok, so I have been waiting all summer to recieve my Financial Aid statement from EKU. I called today and after being transferred between no less than 6 offices, found out that my statement was e-mailed to an my EKU email. I wasn't aware I even had and EKU email, or even that all this important documentation was being sent there. So now I am waiting on my username to be activated to see what kind of hoops I have to jump through to get some money for school! Ugh! Also someone inputted my social security number wrong so now I have to fill out some paperwork and present them with proof of what my real number is. Great, just what I want to do when I start school in less than a month.

Work has been normal. And by normal I mean it sucks. Most people that know me well, relieze I am NOT a customer service kind of person. I don't like the small talk, I don't like the interaction, and most of the time I really don't give a crap when you are unhappy, or want to go the extra mile to fix it. This is why I chose a vocation where I can sit in a nice quiet by my self, and only occasionally have to deal with people.
My frustrations with customers are also magnified with all the stupid things they do. Most don't see whats right in front of their face. Everything in the ice cream is clearly labeled with its flavor, and yet noone thinks to actually read the labels and instead asks me a millon question. Not to mention the fact that the number of mispronounciations of the names is countless. Lemon Chi-fen? No thats Chiffon. Jamacha Almond Fudge? no thats JaMOcha. And yes there is nuts in it. Do even get me started on my inability to understand the eubonics people speak in half the time....

I would like to post script this with things I do like about my job, just to show I am not a total grump. Little kids who come in and pick out flavors by color are adorable. Elderly couples who come in once a week on dates, also adorable. My regulars who get excited that I can remember what they normally get, make me feel smart. Also that fact that I get to eat ice cream everyday, but that was evidenced by the fact I have gained 5 pounds this summer. Oh, and paychecks are nice too.

I have a ton of pictures of things I have knit, and of the three boys to upload, I just can't seem to find my camera cord. But as soon as I find it, there will be lots of pictures, let me promise you.

Can't find the words....

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/SGppxblhfwI/AAAAAAAAAGQ/FIEh4lojCNU/s320/suit.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5218099416201789186" />

Wow. Its hard to believe that its been over a week since Konrad was killed. Konrad is my older (step) brother. He was killed late Saturday night in a hit and run accident. I personally believe that the girl who hit him was drunk, since she waited over 24 hours to turn herself in, even after they found her rental car abandoned.
I guess I knew I really needed to write about this, I have just not been able to concentrate enough to do it until today. Last week I went to work to distract myself a little, and pretty much cried or slept otherwise. Friday my aunts and I drove down to Knoxville TN to meet my stepmom Darcy and my Dad for Konrads funeral. It was actually a really nice funeral. A ton of his friends from school came and spoke. I coupled ageed to send me pictures via facebook so I can give them to Darcy. Darcy seemed to be taking everything ok, but she said she was just so tired from crying she couldn't physically cry anymore. Even my dad took it hard.
It was hard to leave Knoxville after the service Saturday. Eventually Darcy kicked us out and sent us on our way. My aunts made a surprise stop and drove me around Richmond KY on our way back, since that is where my new school is. I hadn't been there yet so it was nice to see the campus. They are building a brand new science center, so that is exciting. It was reassuring to see that while campus was bigger than LSSU, its not huge, so it won't be too much of a change for me. There is also a National City in Richmond, so I won't have to switch banks, which is a blessing.

My Warranty has Expired....

Why is it now that I don't have insurance, I need to go to the Dr? I have been having this really weird pain in my shoulder blade. It almost feels tingly like when your foot falls asleep. Its really getting annoying. I am just hoping its not a pinched nerve or something.

Nick's party was yesterday, and it was a lot of fun. I was pretty happy that I spent the whole day in the sun and didn't get sunburned. It tried to rain for a little bit, but luckily that didn't last. Luckily we have plenty of food. Sloppy joes, baked beans, pasta and potato salad, chips and dip, and of course cake. The cake actually turned out really good. I was worried because it was a Felspausch cake, but it was really good, everybody thought so. I made Nick a few dishcloths for his present, plus got him some dish soap. I think he liked it, I was worried he would think it was stupid though.

Well, its late and I am at work in my office, so I think I will head home.

Jumping on the Bandwagon

I love the new "trend" of bringing your own bags to the grocery store. I think it is just the best idea, and hope more people start doing it. I haven't bought any of those nice $0.99 bags you can get at the stores, because hey, I am crafty and I can make my own. I have own knitted out of plastic shopping bags, and one more in the works. And then today I was looking at my favorite online magazine and saw this...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/SFKuYn5_99I/AAAAAAAAAGI/WdFQW5jeEs0/s200/byobFLAT.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5211419456873428946" />

http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer08/PATTbyob.html

Isn't that perfect? But alas, I must attack my hair every morning with a straightening iron to get it to even think of behaving.
Well, its Friday (hopefully) the last workday of the week. Its definitely been a tough transition. Its always really hard to go from living by yourself to living 5 other people (plus the dog)! I really wanted to have moved to Kentuck by now, but mom said it made more sense for me to stay here and not pay rent, and just save money up. (I think she just wants to keep a free babysitter around) ;-)
I have been keeping busy lately. I worked about 50 hours last week for Papa, and this week have been watching Heath and Brock since their day care lady is out of town, which is extra fun since they are both sick. Plus going to work every night. I am a little tired. I really would like a day off just to sit and watch movies and work on my knitting projects. But I don't think that is going to happen any time soon. Maybe I can just steal some time while the kids are napping....

New Haircut....

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/SBekfUajgDI/AAAAAAAAAGA/bpSX92paSfw/s200/haircut.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5194801553158144050" />
I think its pretty cute. I have more important things to do, like finish Brock's blanket for his birthday.

Finishing a few things...

Well, my Senior poster is done. This past Thursday while working on my project I cut myself on some glass and had to go to the ER. I called Jeff from the waiting room and made him sit with me. I ended up spending two hours there and got liquid stiches. So since I cut my left hand (my dominent hand) I am pretty much useless. Today was the first day I am able to type, and I am still mostly using my right hand. I still can't write, or even worse.... knit. I have just been watching a lot of tv and trying to catch up on my reading. Its really weird to have to try and do my normal routine with the wrong hand. Jeff thinks its really funny to watch me eat....

I hope I heal soon....

Night One of Vacation

Well this morning we left for our week of adventures. I am traveling with my work, Admissions, and we are presenting programs to students interested in LSSU. I presented a little about myself and what I am studying. Boy was I nervous, my hands were shaking really bad. But we got to talk to quite a few kids, and a couple are really excited about coming to the school. I am just excited to spend a week in hotels, and eating out while not paying for anything. Tonight after our presentation we went to dinner at Buffulo Wild Wings. Al (my boss) and I shared a plate of wings, and they were HOT! My lips are still on fire. Al and I ate only about half of what we order. I had a pulled-pork sandwhich though, which was delicious.
Well, I'm off to relax for a while, and get some sleep!

Recyling Adventures!

So I recently learned how to take old sweaters and recycle them to reuse the yarn. I went to Goodwill and found this sweater:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/R8sowaWOGUI/AAAAAAAAAFI/_FdzCDSCP70/s200/yarn+006.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5173273409136499010" />
Then I ripped it all apart and wound up the yarn into balls. I used my chair to wind the skeins and measure the amount of yarn I had.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/R8spMKWOGVI/AAAAAAAAAFQ/Hwdu7NIr3H4/s200/heath+and+brock+019.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5173273885877868882" />
Each wrap around my chair is equal to 1.25 yards. So by multiplying the number or wraps by that length, I get the length in each skein.
Then each skein got washed and dried.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/R8spiaWOGWI/AAAAAAAAAFY/Xl18iqF1eR4/s200/yarn+008.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5173274268129958242" />
Then once they are dry, I made a little label for them, and they are ready to knit with!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/R8sp4aWOGXI/AAAAAAAAAFg/NGYuenA0C48/s200/yarn+009.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5173274646087080306" />

I bought the sweater at Goodwill for a whopping $6.99. After unraveling it and skeining it up, I had 1724 yards of yarn. It is a really soft wool/cashmere/angora/rayon blend. I found a similar yarn online that goes for $8.50 a ball. So the retail of all the yarn I got was around $74! I am going to use it to make this sweater:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/R8srDqWOGZI/AAAAAAAAAFw/fruRgRe9t5w/s200/henleyp.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5173275938872236434" />
I should definetly have enough have enough to make the sweater, hopefully with leftovers for a pair of socks or something.

Exciting News!!

I am at work, so I have to make this quick, but I wanted everyone to know: I GOT A JOB!! My senior project data is due this Friday, so I have been busy getting that done. I am very very close, hopefully everything will go well tomorrow and I will be done. Cross your fingers. I also have four tests this week. It seems like my professors all plan test to fall at the same time, so I have to cram them all in instead of having plenty of time to prepare.
I have been getting a little bit of knitting done. I have been doing the most knitting done during class time. I just finished a hat for my friend Andy the other day in Criminology. (FYI worst class EVER) It fit him really well, and he liked it, so that was good. It got some yarn out of my stash. I have been working really hard not to buy any yarn or craft supplies and just using what I have, so that I have less to move in May. Also, I just don't have the extra money lately to buy all that stuff. I bought groceries Saturday, and actually felt really guilty about it. But seriously, I need food, and if I have to eat one more processed cafeteria meal it will probably turn me into a preservative.
I have also been working on this cute little yellow shrug lately. I want to get it done in time for Spring Break. I get to travel with our Admissions department around MI and tell students about LSSU. It should be fun. I am looking forward to a relatively relaxing week, just traveling, letting other people drive, pay for my meals, getting some serious knitting time in the car.
I have also been trying to unravel this pink sweater I got from Goodwill about a month ago. I am unraveling it and am going to reuse the yarn to make something new. I have a really pretty sweater picked out. I want to get all the yarn ready so I can take that project to work on in the car next week. I have a really cool tutorial to rip sweaters apart to use the yarn I will have to post next time, plus some of the pictures of the sweater as I work on it!

For Deanna:

I took these Christmas Eve too.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/R7Oqu1GH4iI/AAAAAAAAAE4/elqgIqxhT2c/s200/pics+001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5166660919027556898" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/R7Oqv1GH4jI/AAAAAAAAAFA/UKtKolHmf3I/s200/pics+019.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5166660936207426098" />
He was just being so cute playing by himself and with Heath I couldn't help it.

PS. Jeff and I decided it was high time to come home. LSSU was also playing Western in hockey, so this past weekend seemed a good choice. (We tied Friday and won Saturday- thank you very much) The hockey game was fun, although Western's fans are very- mouthy. They are not nice, at all. I am really against booing and making fun of players during games, but especially if you are going to make fun of players pronounce their names right. (Western fans need to learn to read, seriously)
Saturday I got to spend the whole day with my family. It was nice to be home. The baby was not as excited to see me as to see my purse and cell phone, which are his favorite toys. Saturday night Mom, Grandma, Sara, and I went to Salvation Army. I got a ton of things. I got three sweaters for $.50 each, a really cute army style jacket for $5, a winter coat for $2, and some cute coffee mugs. It was so much fun. Sunday we stayed home from church and had waffles for breakfast. I was supposed to come back to the Soo that day, but I-75 and the Mackinac bridge were closed, so we waited until Monday. But we got back safely, and I had classes today.
Which gets me to my next story.... Somebody threw away my senior project. I will give you a moment for that to sink in. This is my project that I have to design, evaluate, and perform by myself. It is a requirement for graduation. All my data from my samples are due at the end of February. Somebody threw it out. Over the weekend I guess they thought the lab wasn't clean enough. I am MAD. I yelled in a classroom full of people. I called my mom and yelled to her in the hallway. I left nasty notes in the lab. Luckily, I still had a stash of the pills I was working on locked in a drawer, so I could start over. But this is a crazy set back that I really don't need at this point.
Ok, on to some pictures....
Here are my socks, I finally finished the first one, and turned the heel of the second one in the car on the way back to school. Hopefully they will be done soon because I can't wait to wear them.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/R7JznFGH4fI/AAAAAAAAAEg/G_qovMdP__c/s200/heath+and+brock+018.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5166318837767332338" />
This is one I took of Heath this weekend:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/R7JznlGH4gI/AAAAAAAAAEo/KXoVUIdLzO4/s200/heath+and+brock+003.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5166318846357266946" />
He loves hats. I had made this hat for a friend, and so I made him wear it to get pictures. I don't think he minded much though.

And just because everybody else's blog has pictures of Seth, I thought I would too.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/R7JzoFGH4hI/AAAAAAAAAEw/NtB1Rr9tQqs/s200/pics+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5166318854947201554" />
I took that in the nursery on Christmas Eve. Sorry I haven't called Mom.

Things are pretty busy here at school. All my data for my Senior Project is due at the end of the month. So that deadline looming is pretty stressful, not to mention that I have four test this Thursday and Friday. But Friday I get to come home(!) for the weekend, go to a hockey game, and see my family. I am super excited.
I have been knitting, I am still working on those socks. I have also started a little yellow shrug which should be super cute when its done. I got together all of my leftover acrylic that was in the same kinda color scheme, and I am going to be working on afghan squares with it, and will eventually have a blanket. I have actually been working a lot on that, because I can do that in class, or at a hockey game. Its also really mindless knitting, so its perfect for short break from studying and homework.
Alright, hopefully I will have a better post tomorrow with some pictures, but just wanted to pop in a let everybody know I was still here!

Survival of the Fittest....

Well, I survived the first week of classes. My classes arn't too bad. Toxicology is going to be really interesting, and its with my favorite professor so thats a bonus. Criminology and Abnormal Psychology will be ok, a lot of reading, but thats nothing I can't handle. I am getting excited to do my senior project. My professors mom keeps sending me all the oxycodone and hydrocodone tablets to analyze. I feel like a drug dealer. But its actually been really nice of her. I need to write myself a note to send her a thank you note for everything. Calculus is going to kick my butt though. I am really not looking forward to this class. But I need it to start graduate school. Which by the way I was accepted into!! Yay! So, I just have to get my financial ducks in a row in order to go. But, I am really excited to get the acceptance off my chest.
Well, I actually did get some knitting done this week. I have been pretty much exclusively working on my Gryffindor Entralac Socks.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/R5IrkXsTBxI/AAAAAAAAAEY/nwnOqCfDT48/s200/pics+021.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5157232427127736082" />
They have been actually really fun to work on. I am pretty excited to start classes again. I am sure this last semester will be very stressful, but it will be over fast. I took advantage of this past couple of days and did nothing at all. Seriously. I spent all day sitting on my couch watching my Harry Potter movies, and knitting on my socks. I am excited to be done with Christmas present knitting, and be able to knit things for myself.
Alright, I need to go pack my bag for tomorrow.

Happy St Lucia Day

First of all, Happy St Lucia Day. This is the first year I have done anything, and it was pretty fun. I have gotten a lot of questions, but it is basically a Christian Saint day, celebrated since Lucia strove to bring light, and food to people in the dark ages. Traditionally, Scandinavians celebrate. You wake up early, and make sweet buns, and coffee, and the eldest daughter serves everyone. So, I just thought it would be fun to wake up and make cinnamon rolls today, and take them to my 8am class. The boys all thought they were good, so I guess it was worth it. Its a fun holiday with lots of tradition, so I would like to start celebrating it. Next year maybe I will bake something from scratch instead of rolls from a can. LOL.

Here is a hat I made for my friend Charlie for Christmas. He is leaving to join the Navy soon, so I wanted this done before he left. Its made out of some leftovers I had from other projects, but I really like how the colors matched. That and hats are so much fun, and really easy to make.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/R2HeOZBonzI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/8scbhnWPW_o/s200/charliehat+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5143636588251094834" />

Living in the Snowglobe

Today was one of those gorgeous days, where it snowed the whole time. Not like blizzard, white out snow. Just a real gentle fluffy snow, with the sun shining the whole time. Heather and I alway used to laugh, and say that this is what living in a snowglobe feels like. Its just times like this that make me love winter.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/R2CUm5BonyI/AAAAAAAAAEI/JQFYF0Ld29k/s200/christmastree+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5143274170320723746" />
This is what I did last night. It went really well. I was pretty stressed out beforehand. I think I stalled my car 4 times on the way to the testing center. I got two good essay topics and was able to find a lot to write about on those. The Verbal and Quantitative parts were stressful, and I didn't think I did very well. But I got my multiple choice results back instantly (the essays will get scored later) and I got a 580 on the Verbal, and a 730 on the Quantitative (both out of 800) so that gave me a 1310 overall! Which is much better than I was expecting. Average on the test is about 1100, and I was really hoping for a 1200. But what I got was so much better!
Thanks everyone for all your prayers and support these past few weeks!

T minus 4 days

Well, I officially applied to grad school today. I sent in my application online, paid the $35 fee, and gave the paperwork to the registrar's to have my transcripts sent. I asked Al, Judy and Bill Ruhf to write my letters of recommendation. I figured that was a good spread; Al is my boss at admissions, Judy is my acamdemic advisor, and Bill was my main supervisor at the lab this summer. Bill seemed kinda excited to write me a letter, so I guess thats a good sign. I just need to ace my test this Saturday, and then hopefully everything else works out. At this point everything is out of my hands except for the test, so I am really focusing on that. I just pray that everything works out and this is what I am supposed to be doing.

In a lighter note, I am getting me hair cut next week! I am super excited. I am getting 10 inches cut off. I had two tests, in Biochemistry and Criminalistics. I did ok on the Biochem one, and think I did well on the Criminalistics one. I have two more tests next week in school, another Criminalistics and a American Government one. Then next Saturday is the big one, my GRE test. I am scared, really scared. I need to do really well on this exam, or I don't get to go to graduate school. I am really scared to take it, and scared to apply to school, because I am afraid of being rejected. Forensic programs are so exclusive, and I am not really a top canidate. Also, today I just found out that someone I know from here is applying to the same school. So I don't know how many people they are going to be willing to take, especially from the same school. All I know is if he gets picked over me, I will be really disappointed, especially since I was the one who pointed this school out to him and Judy.
So, basically I am going to sit in my room this weekend and study for my GRE, and get my application stuff around.

Baby Blanket

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/Ry4ljvN0wrI/AAAAAAAAADQ/rltUsyA5zO4/s200/halloween2+010.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5129078321521672882" />
Finished this today. This is probably my favorite thing to crochet.

Happy Halloween! Whew. I am very happy. I love the buttons I got for it; little tractors for my little tractor obsessed brother. Could there be anything more appropriate? I don't think so.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/Rykd1_N0woI/AAAAAAAAAC8/riPxzbAqSXc/s200/halloween+012.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5127662464077709954" />
And you thought just little kids celebrated Halloween. I am proud to say that all three of these costumes are hand made or assembled. No pre made costumes for us. In case you don't know, the pirate is Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean, then Leonidas for 300 (the Spartan movie), then I am Snow White. Though you could figure out that last one I am sure. ;-)

And finally becaues I am silly; this is Charlie (my stuffed turtle's) Halloween costume:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/RykeqfN0wpI/AAAAAAAAADE/vBRF38PhwkE/s200/halloween+001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5127663366020842130" />
He is Michalangelo from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I have just one sleeve to finish, then sewing to do, and they sweater is done done done! Whew, finally. Then I need to crochet a blanket for a baby shower, and then it is the infamous Christmas presents.
In non-knitting updates: Last night was a dress rehearsal of sorts for Halloween. We dressed up to go to the Hockey game, and it was fun. I am Snow White, for obvious reasons. I thought it turned out pretty good, and a few male friends of mine agreed. Some random girl thought I was Minnie Mouse, and I kinda just stared at her like she was retarded. I had an apple in my hand the whole night and everything, how is that Minnie Mouse? Whatever.
Today was homework, and knitting. So pretty uneventful. But now I am exhausted, so its bedtime!

Pictures as Promised.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/RyDMMwhdEmI/AAAAAAAAACs/zHXqSNkE1ZM/s200/birthdays+024.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5125320895503340130" />

Here are the pictures of Heath's Birthday sweater. Both the fronts and the back is done. So I need to make the sleeves, and sew everything up, and I will be able to send it out. I promise I will post pictures of my progress tomorrow.
Also, I am now on Ravelry! It is a great site, sort of a Facebook for knitters. It lets you organize your projects, yarn stash, as well as meet people who are working on the same projects as you are! It pretty darn awesome.

In a more morose note. I am going to be going to the hospital and getting some blood drawn, sometime soon. I have been just exhausted lately, even with a good nights sleep. I don't think a day has gone by where I didn't take a nap when my classes were done. I am also having hot/cold spells. I am thinking its my thyroid acting up again. So my doctor asked me to send him some blood work to make sure its that, or something else. I really hope that is not the problem, but if it is I need to begin the process to get it under control, because getting a good balance of the medication can take months.

Again, I will have some posters from my birthday, and some knitting progress in the morning!

Yay for me!

I managed to finally get myself to the gym. I haven't gone at all since like April. Yeah, thats bad. Especially since I love to work out. Well, I don't like running or anything, but I really like lifting weights. Sick, I know. But I did it, I went, and I even did ten minutes of the stairs. I normally do longer than that, but since it has been so long since I worked out, I figured I would go easy. I also lifted really light today too, because I don't want to wake up tomorrow not able to move.

One thing that really frustrates me is people who don't know what they are doing at the gym. I made at least three mental notes of people who were using horribly improper form on some of the weight machines. Like, these people could seriously hurt themselves. One lady had the back extension bar at her neck, instead of her shoulder area. Thats a good way to mess your back up permenantly, not to mention do nothing to work your back. There are others, and I am just really concerned, because not only are these people not benifiting from working out, but they really could hurt themselves. I am not any sort of expert so I guess I feel weird wanting to point it out to them.

I think I decided to go to grad school today. My first choice would be John Jay in New York city. Judy pointed out the Eastern Kentucky University has a forensics grad program, and would probably be much more forgiving of my less than steller GPA. Also one of the research advisor is doing FIBERS!!!!! That would make me sooo happy. So, I need to take my GRE and start applying I guess. Well, there goes my social life.

Busy week.

I haven't had much time to knit lately. I was gone for those few days to Traverse City, and I have been playing catch-up in school work since. I think I finally achieved that. I have been mostly working on Heath's sweater, I almost have both fronts done. It is officially due tomorrow (his 1st birthday), but I am obviously not going to make that deadline.
I am going to take some time to show off what I got recently from Amazon.com. I earned a $100 gift certificate with my credit points and did some major spoiling of myself. I bought the following:

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/Rwro63UIZYI/AAAAAAAAABU/aFO9Aw5_Eoc/s200/knitforpeace.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5119160024438433154" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/Rwro7HUIZZI/AAAAAAAAABc/lqtDd0GijjM/s200/knittedbabes.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5119160028733400466" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/Rwro7HUIZaI/AAAAAAAAABk/Elqio8geG00/s200/lastminute.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5119160028733400482" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/Rwro7XUIZbI/AAAAAAAAABs/z0YNoyu1unM/s200/nosheep.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5119160033028367794" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/Rwro7XUIZcI/AAAAAAAAAB0/Q2Jx1VZgsa8/s200/oneskeinwonders.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5119160033028367810" />
And last but certainly not least:
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_Yp-K6GtgYSc/RwrpR3UIZdI/AAAAAAAAAB8/DTxJ-DYdpCU/s200/CSI1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5119160419575424466" />

I love the knitted babes book, and can't wait to make stuff from it. I don't what it is, but I love toys and stuffed animals. The Knit for Peace book is also awesome, and I am going to make so many things from it. I think 2008 is going to be dedicated to charity knitting. I have a large stash so I could use that premise to make a nice dent. CSI is just going to help keep me distracted while I knit the endless Christmas presents.

Ok, back to the baby sweater.

Meanwhile, back at the Ranch....

I was out of town last week for a Forensics Conference, so unfortunately not a lot got done in my knitting life, or my blogging life. I did finish one front for the baby's sweater, and am about 1/2 through the other front. I went to Wal-Mart with a friend because he needed some $3 windshield washer fluid. Well, unfortunately I ended up spending $30 on yarn in the craft section because they are discontinuing two brands I actually like. One is Lion Brand Landscapes which makes really pretty, and quick mittens, that I like to use for last-minute gifts. The other is Bernet Softee Stripes, which I use to make stroller/car seat blankets also for gifts. Luckily it was all in the clearance bin, but if they still have some at the store next time, I am sure I will buy more.

Here is the hat I made for Adam, for his birthday. He really liked, which made me happy. Really happy. He said he has never had a hat knit for him before. So it made me feel really special to be a part of that moment in his life. Its kinda melodramatic, I know, but other knitters will understand.

Ok, off to work on this sweater and watch a few episodes of CSI.

The OCD is kicking in.

Well, I started the baby's birthday sweater Thursday night. I have gotten pretty far considering I haven't had a lot of time to work on it. I need to have it finished withing the next two weeks, so it has become the only project I am working on.

As the title says, my OCD kicked in today. I went to the store, came home and cleaned out my car. (Which is saying something, I had cappacino cups in there from the drive here at the beginning of school.) Then I came in and wrapped Adam's present. Hopefully he gets to come over tonight and I can give it to him. Then I will post the pictures and pattern for that. Then I dusted, did dishes, and I am going to swiffer and mop here soon. I can't decide if I want to vaccuum yet, but expect it probably will happen.

I am kinda in this weird mood lately. Nothing makes me happy, and the littlest things just make me mopey. I was mopey last night, and went out with a couple of friends, and unfortunetely that made me more mopey, because I saw people I didn't want to see. Like I know this is a small campus/town, and its going to happen many more times before I graduate, but it still sucked. Oh well, maybe more cleaning will cheer me up.

Look what I made!

I think this is the coolest thing ever! It is a reusable swiffer cloth. This one is made out of cheap acrylic yarn and I use it to dry sweep. This has been.... a week. It had its ups and downs for sure. All in all it was pretty blah. I will try to re-cap as interesting as possible.
Tuesday sucked-period. My cat has been sick for a couple months, and my mom had to put her to sleep Tuesday morning. Unfortunetly I had to go to work, but ended up sobbing over the phone to my mom sitting at my desk. I just feel like a failure that Sam wouldn't get better. I know that she was sick and its wrong to make her suffer, but I really didn't want to have her put to sleep. Even now 5 days later, I am crying as I write this. I ended up texting my friend Charlie that afternoon and talked a little bit, he was at work but told me he would call later. Which segways into our next part.
He texted me and seemed odd, but I just figured he had started drinking already, and was being silly. We talked for about an hour like this and I was told he was gonna come get me to go out to the bar. Well it turned out I wasn't talking to Charlie and it was some random drunk guy. Which again caused a fit of crying. Then finally the real Charlie called and did take me out with him and the guys to kareoke night at the Savoy. Which I needed, it was silly and fun and a good distraction.
Thursday Devon and Dan-o came over and hung out at my place. A couple of their friends showed up to and we all sat around and talked etc. It was nice to have people over here. We then decided to go to the BD, since it was Thursday night and that is what college students in the Soo do. A group of guys that I know where there, and I went over to talk, and thet acted like they didn't know me! That hurt, bad. Especially since most of them complain over IM that I never visit etc. So that pretty much ruined my night, and even Charlie (tried) but couldn't fix it totally.
Yesterday was pretty blah since I had been up late, and I didn't feel very good anyway. But I did get to go to the Yarn store! I bought supplies to make Heath's sweater for his birthday present. He has this pretty blue/green/yellow pastel yarn and some just pastel yarn to go with it. It should be really cute. I also bought some red cotten yarn to make a pair of gloves for my aunt for Christmas. I really want to patronize Gloria's, because I love having a Local Yarn Store (LYS), but everything there is soo expensive, and they don't have any good sock yarn. Half of their stock is nasty fun fur and novelty yarn. I am acutally happier with what I buy at Wal-mart more often.
Last night Adam and I finally(!) got to hang out. We went to the Second City performance at the Arts Center. It was hilarious. They had a mix of improv and rehearsed skits. It was just a laugh. Student got in free too, which was even better. Afterwards Adam just came over and we got to hang out and talk, which was really nice. Him and I seem to be able to talk and not really run out of things to talk about. Which is rare. Hopefully he is coming over for dinner tonight, so I gotta get groceries around for that. He has been really busy working in Brimley with this lady who does dog sledding. So he might have to stay there tonight and take care of the dogs while she is gone. But cross your fingers for me that he doesn't.

Welcome!

Well, I did it. I started a blog. I liked my livejournal, but I wanted a little more customization potential.
I have a pretty big year starting up soon. My senior year of college. I have projects to do, papers to write, books to read, countless hours of studying, and hopefully some fun in between. I am glad to be back though. I really enjoyed working for the Forensics Lab. I learned so much about evidence handling, paperwork, drug culture, as well as how to work and run the instruments. Not to mention that is completely affirmed that this is what I want to do with the rest of my life. Everyday was something new and even the scientists who had been there 15+ years never stopped looking up new information and learning. I can't wait to (hopefully) get a job next year.
Well, that's all for this post.
